Do you want to learn more about how to create an easy-to-update and dynamic website? Have you heard about Content Management System (CMS) websites or the free open-source software (Wordpress) and want to learn more about them? Want to get some ideas on how to better use your website including adding forms, blog, multimedia and getting better search engine rank?
Come to this workshop offering the basics of Wordpress, an open source content management software (www.wordpress.org). Topics covered in this 2 hour format include:
• Content Management System (CMS) websites - how are they different
• Wordpress as a CMS - Simple, Free & Fast.
• General settings of your website (you are in control!)
• Getting content on your site - text, photos, audio & video.
• Changing the look of your site (themes and widgets)
• Adding functionality to your website with plugins (our favorites & how to find your own)
• Basic search engine optimization- ways to get found
Last hour will be Q and A and time to work on individual websites.
Requirements - Since this is a hands on workshop it would be helpful if you have a website that capable of running wordpress though we will have some demo sites available for you to use if necessary, or you can attend the workshop and just watch the demos- we try to make it as fun as possible! Please contact your current webhost about getting this installed in advance. If you need assistance getting this on your site please contact us and we'll be happy to assist you. If you don't have a website &/or a domain name we can assist you with this, just contact service@svaha.com and mention you're part of the Downeast Learning workshop. We have a special deal for 1 year domain registration & hosting for $50 (normally a $72 cost)
